Six Senses Laamu is an idyllic palm-fringed paradise located in the southern Maldives, in the remote Laamu Atoll. Reachable by 65 minute scenic seaplane flight from Malé International Airport, offering a fascinating bird’s-eye view of the beautiful Maldives Archipelago, or, a 35-minute domestic flight to Laamu’s Kadhdhoo Airport followed by a 15-minute speedboat transfer to the resort.

 

Six Senses Laamu embodies the concept of barefoot serenity, with its pristine white sand, turquoise waters, untouched beaches, and lush vegetation. The resort's design is characterised by a natural and individualistic style that prioritises privacy, with attention paid to even the smallest details and a minimalist aesthetic.

 

Guests can choose from 96 spacious villas located on the stunning beachfront or over sparkling waters, ranging from one to two bedrooms. Each villa has been thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the island's outstanding natural beauty, providing spectacular water views and a sustainable yet luxurious interior. Privacy, comfort, and cosiness are paramount, and all villas are constructed using local and eco-friendly materials, reflecting the Six Senses philosophy of living in harmony with the environment. Whether guests prefer the gentle breezes of an over-water villa or the seclusion of a beachfront option nestled in lush vegetation, each villa has been cleverly designed to maximise space and privacy.

 

Six Senses Laamu offers a comprehensive range of dining options with six restaurants and bars. All dining venues are designed to take advantage of the island's natural beauty and abundant overwater space, offering panoramic views from sunrise to sunset. Longitude is an open-air, two-story overwater dining venue that serves breakfast and an a-la-carte international menu for dinner. Zen offers Japanese fusion cuisine with a daily-changing Omakase Menu, as well as an extensive A la Carte and sushi menu, plus Kaji Teppanyaki for an entertaining dining experience. The adults-only venue of LEAF is perched above the organic garden and features an ever-changing Mediterranean menu for dinner that showcases innovative dishes made with local ingredients sourced from Maldivian fishermen and farmers. Sip Sip is a casual all-day dining alternative with a sunken bar and adjacent poolside seating serving homemade pizzas, crisp salads, juicy burgers, a variety of pasta, and locally inspired desserts. Chill Bar is built over the water and on several levels, with a resident DJ and South East Asian inspired menu available throughout the day. Altitude Wine Cellar is a sunlit wine tower that rises 6.4 metres above the Indian Ocean and holds more than 420 old world and new world vintages, and serves delicious accompanying charcuterie and cheeses as perfect accompaniments. Ice offers forty-two unique ice cream and sorbet flavours as well as homemade chocolates in the chocolate studio. Additionally, in-villa dining with Mediterranean, Asian, and local dishes is available for guests who prefer privacy.

 

The award winning Six Senses Spa boasts nine private treatment nests that offer a serene ambiance, with a choice of ocean views or tucked away in the lush nature that surrounds them. Guests can indulge in locally-inspired and Ayurvedic treatments, massages, yoga, and fitness classes, as well as wellness workshops. The highly skilled therapists at the spa use natural products to provide an array of signature procedures and wellness journeys, as well as rejuvenation and wellness specialties that reflect the region. Surfers can even ride the waves at Yin Yang. For a unique experience, pass under a canopy of tangled branches to recline under the stars at the Jungle Cinema, with warm popcorn and chilled Champagne, or, take a cooking class.

Visit SHELL - 'Sea Hub of Environmental Learning in Laamu' for interactive activities and a firsthand look at sustainable resource management in Laamu atoll. This educational hub, housing the Maldives Underwater Initiative (MUI), offers immersive experiences focused on marine conservation. Delve into the vibrant marine life through exhibits, a marine laboratory, cinema room, and a dedicated kids’ zone. Using virtual and augmented reality, along with conservation art, SHELL aims to create a fully immersive experience. Being the only resort in the Laamu Atoll, guests will enjoy exclusive access to dive sites, a rare privilege in this world-class diving destination, and even more exceptional for an area where manta rays can be seen year-round, with over 120 resident manta rays frequenting at Hithadhoo Corner and the only year-round manta ray cleaning station in the Maldives. The reefs in the area boast an abundance of hard corals, colourful reef fish, hawksbill and green turtles, reef sharks, and eagle rays year-round. Additionally, spinner and bottlenose dolphins are often sighted during dolphin cruises or from the resort.

 

Six Senses Laamu’s location is also surfers paradise. The surf season runs from April to October, offering regular surf lessons and trips to the well-known Yin Yang break, offering consistent waves. Tropicsurf, positioned as the masters of high-end surfing, are conveniently based at the resort and cater to surfers of all ages, experience levels, and competencies.

From May to September, turtle nesting is common at Six Senses Laamu, where guests may encounter turtles nesting close to their villas. Each nest is safeguarded by a net and an informative signboard for the guests. July to October is the season for turtle hatching, and guests are welcome to observe the incredible hatching event, which is announced by the Marine Biologist.

 

The resort offers a family-friendly environment where even the little ones can have big adventures, with offerings ranging from The Den children's club to in-villa babysitting services, toys, baby chairs, and Maldivian inspired hammocks. The resort's sustainability camps, including "Zero Waste," "Home Grown," and "Nature Conservation," as well as its “Climate Warriors” initiative and “Junior Marine Biology” program, provide younger guests with the opportunity to embark on meaningful and educational experiences.
