COMO Cocoa Island

South Malé Atoll

Maldivian inspired overwater retreat

Conveniently situated in the South Malé Atoll, COMO Cocoa Island is a 40-minute speedboat ride away from Malé international airport. This small, romantic overwater resort is nestled on a private island adorned with pristine white sand, and is also home to an exceptional COMO Shambhala wellness retreat.

33 elegant overwater villas emerge from the sea, ranging from one to three bedrooms, all overlooking a breathtaking turquoise lagoon. Stroll down wooden walkways that lead to your suite, designed to resemble the elegant curve of fishing boats, and anchored to a wooden boardwalk that extends over the lagoon. The villas' spacious and sophisticated, yet simplistic, design is reminiscent of the vast expanse of the horizon while also ensuring privacy, allowing guests to seamlessly transition from their terrace into the ocean.

Ufaa, the only restaurant on the small island, presents an innovative fusion of Indian and Mediterranean culinary traditions, featuring locally caught seafood and fresh farm-grown produce. The menu incorporates COMO Shambhala Cuisine, renowned for its healthful and natural flavours. The dishes are a contemporary take on South Indian cuisine, with a selection of Asian and Mediterranean classics, including pastas and salads. The restaurant's use of the tandoor oven for fat-free cooking is a highlight. Guests can also enjoy COMO Shambhala Cuisine from the in-room dining menu. Faru Bar, located by the pool with direct access to the beach, offers a relaxed ambiance where guests can indulge in a wide range of cocktails, mocktails, fine wines, classic cigars, and light snacks.

The COMO Shambhala Retreat at COMO Cocoa Island is a serene destination, dedicated to promoting deep relaxation and restoration. Treatment rooms offer stunning views of the lagoon and lush foliage, while the hydrotherapy pool, one of the only ones in the Maldives, provides a safe and effective way to soothe tired muscles with high-pressure water jets. Shambhala, meaning 'peace' in Sanskrit, encapsulates the COMO Shambhala's holistic approach to wellness, which seeks to balance the mind, body, and spirit through a combination of ancient practices and modern science. The two-storey COMO Shambhala Retreat features four massage pavilions, three of which are designed for couples. The top floor is dedicated to yoga, while the lower floor is home to a fully equipped gym. Complementing these services is the signature COMO Shambhala Cuisine, which uses pure ingredients to create nourishing, nutrition-optimised dishes that promote holistic well-being.

COMO Cocoa Island offers a range of exhilarating outdoor activities, including world-class diving, snorkelling, fishing, and island picnics on soft, silk-like sand. Guests can snorkel in the thriving house reef or venture further out to spot turtles, sharks, and other marine creatures. For a unique experience, try night snorkelling to witness the nocturnal marine life and bioluminescent coral. This atoll is abundant with marine life and pristine dive sites, including the Kandooma Caves and the shark cleaning station at Cocoa Thila. Guests can also embark on private cruises to watch wild dolphins swimming as the sun sets over the ocean or swim with sea giants. For an unforgettable experience, take a speedboat to Ari Atoll and search for whale sharks, then stop at an uninhabited island for a picnic lunch before returning home.

Although the resort primarily caters to couples and adults looking for a romantic getaway or a wellness retreat and does not feature a kids club, guests of all ages are welcome to stay and enjoy the outdoor activities and facilities available.
